Weight-Loss Program

1. Go stand on the North Pole. Weight yourself. Let's say you're 150.8 pounds.
2. Now go to the equator and weigh yourself. There you'll weigh 150 pounds.
3. You've lost 0.8 pound. Way to go!

Explanation: The Earth is not a perfect ball. The equator is 13 miles farther from the Earth's center than the North and South Poles are. The farther you are from the center of the Earth, the less that gravity pulls on you. The less gravity, the less you weigh. (Weight is a measurement of the Earth's pull.)
