Summarising SARS data

SARS data in Hong Kong is very straight forward: everyday the government announces 3 numbers - the number of new SARS case, the number of death, and the number of discharged patients. The cumulative number of SARS case, death, discharged patients, as well as number of patients still under treatment in hospitals could be calculated by the 3 given numbers and would then match with the official numbers. However, the SARS data given by China everyday is pretty confusing: the Chinese government announces apart from the number of new SARS case, the number of death, and the number of discharged patients, they also have the number of suspect case, and, there are more – each day they have the number of discarded SARS case (to be deducted from the cumulative number of SARS case), as well as the number of discarded suspect case (to be deducted from cumulative number of suspect case). I am now summarizing their data for my own interest. The process is just too confusing..
