HK needs stability, not disputes

In today's SCMP,

Tsang Hin-chi, a member of the National People's Congress Standing Committee, yesterday asked the opposition camp and the media not to stir up further disputes.

"Hong Kong needs no more disputes. It's all right to express views, but we should not become polarised," he said.

"If people from time to time call for 'down with somebody' or 'so and so should step down', how can the government develop? It's very sad to see these struggles.

"Who's going to become the chief executive of Hong Kong? For the good of Hong Kong, the media should also be fair. Mr Tung has done a lot of good work. But has the media reported that? No."

"The Tung adminsitration's work has definitely not been perfect. There have been shortcomings. But the media just plays up the shortcomings and criticises."

"All we hear is 'oppose' and 'oppose' from the pro-democracy camp. Is Hong Kong really so impotent? No."
